About Milan

Welcome to Milan

With a population of 1.3 million people, Milan is Italy’s leading city for business.

Milan is undoubtedly beautiful and packed with art and culture: its buildings testify to the richness of its history and the way it has changed over the past centuries, from the Roman era to nowadays through Middle Ages, Renaissance, Spanish and later Austrian dominations, Italy’s unification and the two world wars.

Milan is home to some of the most iconic landmarks in Italy, such as Duomo and Castello Sforzesco, but is also a bustling 21st century city.

In the last years Milan is undergoing  an “urban rebirth” energised by Expo Milano 2015 and the New Exhibition Center (Milano Fiera). Skyscrapers and high-rises changed the skyline of the city.

Milan is a vibrant mix of past and future. The capability of transforming itself and of accommodating avant-garde movements makes Milan a laboratory of ideas and a catalyst for innovation. Milan boasts thriving cultural and creative industries and is a magnetic point for designers, artists, photographers and architects, but also for businessmen, researchers and – last but not least – tourists.
