The OEGlobal Conference
The OEGlobal Conference is the flagship convening of Open Education Global. A global gathering that brings together educators, students, policymakers, librarians, technologists, researchers, and advocates committed to advancing open education worldwide.
More than an annual event, the conference is a living expression of OEGlobal’s mission: to support and advance openness in education globally. It is where the community reflects on progress, engages with emerging challenges, and co-creates the future of open education. It serves as a welcoming space to gather, exchange ideas, listen deeply to one another, and learn across perspectives, experiences, and regions.
The OEGlobal Conference plays a central role in the organization’s strategic pillars:
- Field-building:
The conference strengthens the global open education ecosystem by connecting institutions, practitioners, policymakers, and advocates across regions. It fosters alignment and shared momentum, creating opportunities for coordinated approaches to policy, practice, and implementation. - Knowledge exchange:
Participants share research, case studies, tools, practices, and lessons learned from their diverse contexts. Through sessions, workshops, panels, and community dialogues, the conference promotes meaningful peer-to-peer learning, mentorship, and cross-regional exchange, highlighting voices from varied backgrounds, perspectives, and regions around the world. - Value co-creation:
The conference catalyzes cooperation and meaningful collaborations. It serves as a launch point for partnerships, research initiatives, and cross-institutional projects that grow out of conversations, mutual learning, and collective vision sparked at the OEGlobal Conference.
A Global Community in Action
Since 2008, under the leadership and stewardship of Open Education Global, the OEGlobal Conference has convened thousands of participants from around the world. Many of these sessions remain available as online recordings, allowing the conference’s learning and dialogue to continue well beyond the event itself. Each year, one or more host institutions collaborate closely with OEGlobal to co-design the event, ensuring that the conference reflects both global priorities and regional perspectives.
History of the OEGlobal Conference
The OEGlobal Conference continually evolves to meet the needs of the community and respond to changing global contexts.
