Brandon Muramatsu leads the design and implementation of national and international strategic education initiatives at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for MIT Open Learning. He manages a portfolio of education technology and curriculum development projects, encompassing university-wide initiatives and international collaborations. He has product managed web applications, mobile apps, and software tools for educators and learners to author, use, reuse and share digital learning resources. He has worked with faculty on curriculum design and to implement learning technologies in their classes and with their students. He has developed national repositories of educational resources. He has also helped establish two high schools, one in Utah and the other in Belize, whose foundation is open educational resources. Brandon Muramatsu earned his B.S. (1993) and M.S. (1995) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

Brandon has been involved with Open Education since 2004, developing open educational resources, open source software, and convening communities of practitioners. He helped found the OpenCourseWare Consortium, now OE Global. He has co-chaired and organized a number of international Open Education conferences.
