The conference will take place in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, from 13-15 November 2024 with the theme <em><strong>Open Is Everyone\u2019s Business<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme encapsulates the notion that openness is not only the domain of librarians, learning designers, and faculty. It extends across the entire institution and into the broader community. It includes the entire education sector, the GLAM (Gallery, Libraries, Archives, &amp; Museums) sector, policymakers, citizen science groups, and more.&nbsp; All have a role to play in creating a society where free and open access to knowledge is practised, normalised, and valued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OE Global 2024 recognises the multifaceted nature of openness and the maturing intersection between open and key societal concepts linked to inclusion, diversity, access, cultural representation, and social justice. Open is used in numerous contexts, including open data, open repositories, open source, open research, open science, open scholarship, open access, and open education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We invite you to propose sessions in the following areas :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" style=\"padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">\n<li>Artificial Intelligence and its anticipated impact on open education (i.e ethics, practices)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data sovereignty and openness in education and research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital competence in open education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First Nations perspectives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Free and open micro-credentialing&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inclusion, diversity, equity, and access to Open Education Resources (OER) and Open Education Practices (OEP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lifelong, and informal learning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Local Indigenous cultures and ways of knowing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open access publishing&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open educational practices, including open assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open education policies and strategies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open licencing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open practitioners, identity, and space in education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open repositories<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open source technical platforms in education &#8211; successes and challenges for open education&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open textbooks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social justice and OER and OEP<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Student perspectives on open education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sustainability in open education practice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We look forward to offering a diverse, robust program that captures, communicates, and invites collaboration across the many facets of open. Panels should focus on an interactive discussion between the panel members and the audience. A proposal for a Panel should ideally include the topics to be discussed, panel members, how the audience will be engaged in the discussion, and the expected outcomes for the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i class=\"fasr fa-clock-desk\"><\/i> <em>Time allocation:<\/em> 40 OR 60 minutes (authors should specify duration in their proposals).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item\"><details><summary class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__title has-background has-accent-2-background-color has-text-color has-base-2-color\"><strong>Wildcard<\/strong><\/summary><div class=\"wp-block-coblocks-accordion-item__content\" style=\"border-color:#ff5547\">\n<p>Possibility to propose a format (in your proposal) that does not fit within the identified topics. Creative approaches are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><i class=\"fasr fa-clock-desk\"><\/i> <em>Time allocation<\/em>: 40 OR 60 minutes (authors should specify duration in their proposals).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"selection-criteria\">Selection Criteria<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Submissions will be reviewed based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Relevance:<\/strong> Does the submission relate to the conference theme <em>Open is Everyone\u2019s Business<\/em>?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clarity and Coherence: <\/strong>Does the submission explain the aim(s) of the proposal in a clear and understandable way and is consistent with the requirement of the call?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Learning Outcomes: <\/strong>Does the submission explain what participants can expect to learn in the session or how the session will advance their understanding of Open Education? <strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Balance<\/strong>: Does the submission contribute to the representation of&nbsp;perspectives from usually under-represented viewpoints and voices? What specific sectors\/practices does it cover outside of higher education? Are these practices transferable to other contexts?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"submission-process\">Submission Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All proposals have to be submitted in English through EasyChair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals for the Open Education Global Conference 2024 must include an abstract with 3-5 keywords (minimum 400 and maximum 500 words), and a description of learning outcomes or key takeaways (100-200 words).&nbsp; References are optional and are not included in the word count. Authors should ensure that the conference theme <em>Open is Everyone\u2019s Business<\/em> is addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you submit using EasyChair, you will receive an automated confirmation email. If you do not hear from us, please get in touch with us at conference@oeglobal.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selected sessions, including all keynote sessions, will be live-streamed and recorded. Abstracts and supporting materials will be available on the<a href=\"https:\/\/connect.oeglobal.org\/c\/oeg-2022\/70\/none\"><strong> <\/strong><\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/connect.oeglobal.org\/c\/oeg-2024\">Open Education Global Connect<\/a><\/strong> platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All presenting authors must register for the conference, pay applicable registration fees and attend the in-person conference.
