In the spirit of the conference theme of Open as Everybody’s Business, each year the OEGlobal team aims to provide a participatory experience for everybody– those who cannot be in Brisbane and those who can via an OEG Connect community space.
This space is online and is organized around a conference, but we are not offering it as an online or hybrid conference. It’s both. We are designing opportunities for both people In Brisbane and ones Not in Brisbane – so we can all contribute to the conference experience from wherever we are. Rather than trying to replicate a conference format we aim to augment it.
We were inspired by the Yes, and rule of improv that adopted so anyone can add to the conference experience, wherever they are.
How to Participate
- Explore the OEGlobal 2024 area in OEG Connect.
- Look to the AND Conference Concept post for a growing list of suggested activities, starting with creating accounts, adding yourself to a participant group, exploring activities to introduce yourself and meet others.
- For those giving talks in Brisbane, presenters can augment their sessions in OEG Connect with media, links, slides, and questions to start discussions (pending posting of abstracts there).
- For those who will not be in Brisbane we have an open space for you to be a part of the conference as a”Virtual Poster”, someone who post an activity, discussion question, shared resource.
- Everyone is invited to be active in the Interaction Zone activities, or create your own.
The Pre/Unconference Week
Starting October 28, we are offering a mixed set of online events and inviting everybody to be part of the ongoing asynchronous activities listed above. This is all part of building up momentum to the conference days.

Conference of the Air
More to be revealed soon, but inspired by Australia’s pioneering distance education efforts as School of the Air, we are creating an internet radio station for OEGlobal 2024. See some more hints about Conference of the Air in, you guessed it, OEG Connect.
