Sustainability Tips

You might have heard that this event is going carbon-neutral. Check out Explore Edmonton’s Carbon Neutral Program to learn more. We are doing our part to make a positive impact, and there are so many ways for you to contribute as well.

The following are some eco-friendly tips that the attendees can practice, helping us reduce the event’s carbon-footprint.

Eco-friendly Travel

Ground transportation adds immensely to the travel emissions.

  1. Edmonton offers safe walking options as well soft transportations like biking and e-scooters easily accessible through mobile devices via BIRD Canada and Lime. So, if you are staying near to the event venue, you can avoid that traffic congestion, parking hunt and ground travel emissions while having a fun ride or just a simple walk.
  2. You can also utilize Explore Edmonton’s ‘Show your badge’ program and enjoy complimentary rides on public transit by simply presenting your conference registration pass to the transit drivers and ticket checkers in lieu of the fare payments.

Electric Emissions

  1. Save batteries by turning off your laptops and tablets when not in use.
  2. Avoid over charging of electronics and unplug devices during nighttime.

Do not Waste!

Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!

  1. Reduce consumption – Ex. Write on the blank side of a used paper.
  2. Reuse – Ex. Avoid using single use products and opting for reusable cups/water bottles.
  3. Recycle – follow waste signage to dispose of waste in the correct manner.
