Live Synchronous Webinar Presentations
Each online conference day starts with live synchronous webinars, focused on the UNESCO OER action area of the day and programmed by language.
Introduction: by session chair and rapporteur to action area and to presenters (~10 min)
- Presentations: Each webinar has up to five (up to 20 min) selected presentations by practitioners in the field broadly related to the day’s action area
- Discussion: Session chair leads a discussion, drawing on the presentations and online participant comments and questions (~30 min).
Each webinar has its own OEGlobal online conference platform area for posting webinar recording and engaging the global open education community in asynchronous Q&A, discussion, and sharing of related resources.
Each webinar also has a rapporteur, who will curate a summary of the webinar to report at the in-person congress in Nantes in May 2022.
OEGlobal 2021 includes 21 webinars:
- 1 UNESCO Dynamic Coalition webinar
- 3 webinars in Spanish (7 presentations, subject to change)

Asynchronous Interactive Activities

Interactive activities are short, have a clear purpose, and produce an outcome that contributes to implementation of the UNESCO OER Recommendation. Each interactive activity has its own OEGlobal online conference platform area for posting resources and engaging the global open education community in asynchronous dialogue, question and answer, discussion, and sharing of related resources.
OEGlobal 2021 includes 33 asynchronous interactive activities:
- 31 interactive activities in English
- 1 interactive activity in Spanish
- 1 interactive activity in Chinese
Pre-recorded Presentations
Accepted proposals for webinar presentation proposals that were not selected for inclusion in live synchronous webinars will upload a pre-recording of their presentation. Each pre-recorded presentation has its own OEGlobal online conference platform area for engaging the global open education community in asynchronous Q&A, discussion, and sharing of related resources.
Pre-recorded presentations are uploaded in advance of the conference and are available across all five days. The program for each day of the conference will highlight the pre-recorded presentations related to the UNESCO OER Recommendation action area of the day.
OEGlobal 2021 includes 13 Pre-recorded Presentations (all in English).
Social Activities
The online conference has some fun, informal social activities that provide a means for connecting people together, bridging culture, and helping participants get to know each other.
Bridging Activities
The OEGlobal Conference In-person Congress will take place on May 23-25, 2022. In the meantime, the program planning committee will be exploring ideas for how to enhance continuity between the Online Conference and In-person Congress. Participants are also encouraged to propose ideas by sending an email to conference@oeglobal.org.
Program Committee
This complex and exciting program for the OEGlobal 2021 Online Conference was created through a process led by two program co-chairs, Wayne Homes and Davor Orlic, and a large team of reviewers drawn from the global open education community. Meet the review team here.
