Cape Town’s most distinctive feature is its stunning setting: it lies on a dramatic coastline of pristine white beaches and icy waters, overlooked by the iconic flat-topped Table Mountain. Then there\u2019s its unique ethnic mix, which sets it apart from the rest of South Africa: many Cape Town residents have a mixed heritage, including those from the distinctive Cape Malay community. Cape Town strives to embrace the South African concept of the rainbow nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

This multifaceted city has a habit of making people fall in love with it. For some it could be the view of Camps Bay and the glistening ocean as you crest Kloof Nek that\u2019s the draw; for others the sound of the muezzin\u2019s call to prayer wafting over Bo Kaap on a misty morning; or the smell of a fresh espresso at the Neighbourgoods Market in Woodstock; or the sensation of sand between the toes while walking with penguins on Boulder\u2019s Beach; or simply the taste of aromatic spices as you dig into a midnight samosa from a roadside stall on Long Street.<\/span><\/p>\n

With sights as diverse as <\/span>Robben Island<\/span><\/a>, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for many years, and <\/span>Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens<\/span><\/a>, with its abundant range of African flora, Cape Town\u2019s attractions cover the natural world and the country\u2019s fascinating history in equal measure. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Open Education Global Conference\u00a0will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre<\/a>, a world-class conference facility that has been home to events big and small. <\/span>The Convention Centre is conveniently located near the <\/span>Victoria & Alfred Waterfront<\/span><\/a>, major hotels and the rest of the city centre. <\/span><\/p>\n
