Patricia B. Arinto <\/p>\n Patricia B. Arinto<\/b> is Dean of the Faculty of Education of the University of the Philippines – Open University (UPOU) where she teaches courses on the foundations of distance education, learning theories and instructional design, and alternative education. She is also the deputy principal investigator of the Research on Open Educational Resources for Development in the Global South (ROER4D) project and the theme adviser on MOOCs in the Digital Learning for Development (DL4D) project funded by the International Development Research Centre of Canada (IDRC). Over the past 15 years she has designed training programs on technology-supported teaching and learning for secondary school teachers, university faculty, and teachers in the alternative learning system in the Philippines, Cambodia, and Lao People<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s Democratic Republic, and she is currently leading a USAID-funded technology-supported teacher professional development program in early literacy instruction for K-3 teachers in the Philippines. She has also led research programs on ICT (information and communications technologies) integration in Philippine schools, including an Australian Government-funded study on use of tablet computers for teaching and learning in nine public secondary schools in the Philippines in 2012-2014 and a USAID-funded national assessment of the state of ICT in Philippine basic education in 2012. She was part of the 2010-2012 IDRC-funded multi-country <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Openness and Quality in Asian Distance Education<\/span>\u201d<\/span> project, which included a study on awareness and use of OER across Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n Patricia holds a Doctor in Education (EdD) degree from the Institute of Education, University of London; an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of the Philippines Diliman; and a BA in Communication Arts (<\/span>magna cum laude<\/span><\/i>) from the University of the Philippines Visayas – Tacloban College. She also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Technology-Based Distributed Learning from the University of British Columbia (Canada).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Patricia B.
