Memory of coKREA: reflections about openness as a cultural value

coKREA is both a research project as a training and coaching project on the use and creation of Open Educational Resources (OER). Its purpose is to investigate, through Participatory Action Research, typical of southern epistemologies, if a bottom-up approach can support effective models of adoption of OER in primary and secondary teachers of elementary and secondary education, and how to achieve this. During its development, openness was reasserted as the cultural value that guided the actions of teachers in southwestern Colombia who participated in the experience and that went beyond the project duration as place for the meeting, reflection, exploration and learning about the possibilities to use, adapt, create and disseminate OER. “Openness” has been the vital force of coKREA and thanks to this value the project took off, took life and continues consolidating as co-creation community, comprised of people full of knowledge and questions, willing to work collectively. coKREA is an example of how a research project was able to install the value of the openness in the educational universe.
