The panel discussants will present some findings from the study regarding the cost benefit and impact of OER on the quality of course materials coming from three different fields of disciplines. It hopes to generate some discussion as to the challenges and issues underpinning the following: (1) current status of utilization of OER in postgraduate education in a developing country, (2) cost of development of OER in this setting, and (3) impact of OER on the quality of course materials as seen from its pedagogical value when adopted in education, health and development courses. The quality of the course materials were evaluated as to their: disciplinal fitness of resources selected, alignment of resources with course objectives, use of variety of resources by type of media, facilitation of scaffolding learning, encouragement of use of different types of learning activities, and fostering of engagement and collaboration.
