The proposed presentation will describe the main findings of a study conducted in rural Afghanistan to measure the impact on teachers who used a multilingual digital library of OER. We will share the results, recommendations and implications of an impact study of OER use among Afghan teachers, as well as highlight the role that innovation has played in improvising access to OER in resource-scarce and remote environments, share how we have sought to introduce the concept of open licensing in the country, and discuss the potential of digital libraries to strengthen education quality in developing countries. The intended audience for this presentation includes researchers; digital librarians; those interested in language accessibility issues in open education; as well as anyone with a general interest in OER in the developing world.
