Creative Commons is developing a set of certificates in response to the tremendous, growth in use of CC licenses around the world and the corresponding need to help individuals and organizations acquire Creative Commons knowledge and skills. In addition to providing comprehensive Creative Commons learning relevant to all, a specialized set of certificates for educators, librarians and government are being created. Together these certificates aim to go beyond the basics of using Creative Commons to embodying the practices and ethos associated with creating a vibrant commons. Creative Commons is taking an open source approach to building these certificates by engaging the open community in contributing to certificate designs, learning materials, and learning activities. This action lab will provide OEC Conference participants with the opportunity to beta test and and actively contribute to creating curricula still under development (“Hack The Cred”), thereby ensuring that the certificates are relevant and meet real needs.
