Darakht-e Danesh Online Library for Educators in Afghanistan

Darakht-e Danesh (‘knowledge tree’) is a digital library of open educational resources for teachers in the three languages used in Afghanistan’s public education system: Dari, Pashto and English. Since 2015, an impact study has been underway to assess the impact of the OERs on teaching and learning in Afghan classrooms, as one of the impact studies in the ROER4D consortium (roer4d.org). This session will share preliminary findings of the study in Afghanistan, and also share insights and lessons learned of our team’s experience so far working to promote and use open educational resources and technology to increase access to multilingual learning materials in the Afghan context.
